Mandatory Licensing Requirements

The CPLED Program

The bar admission course for the law societies of Alberta, Manitoba and Saskatchewan is the CPLED Program. The CPLED Program is administered in Alberta by the Legal Education Society Alberta, in Manitoba, by the Law Society of Manitoba and in Saskatchewan, by the Law Society of Saskatchewan - Bar Admissions Office.

Students must successfully complete the requirements of the CPLED Program before applying for admission to the bar. Each law society province sets its requirements.

Successfully meeting the requirements of the Program requires a grade of “Competency Demonstrated” on all assignments and competency evaluations. A student who does not meet the requirements of the CPLED Program must repeat the Program.
