Virus-Checking Software and Firewalls
If you do your CPLED work on a firm’s computer, your firm’s IT people will likely have installed both firewall and virus-checking software for you.
If you do any work on a home computer you are responsible to have an up-to-date virus-checking program installed and updated regularly.
To take a quick look at your computer’s health you can do a free scan at: http://housecall.trendmicro.com
A firewall, once set up correctly, will save you a lot of time and aggravation. A good firewall will stop spyware from being installed on your computer.
We encourage you to routinely scan your system for problem— especially if you notice your system has slowed down, or if you notice strange activity from your web browser (e.g. Home page has changed, pop ups occur regularly, etc).
